Scott Purnell and Joanna Cook, of Dalton Partners, marketed the property in Valaud Crescent and were not surprised to see the four-bedroom residence break new ground for the leafy suburb.

“It just goes to show the pull of that eastern side [of the Pacific Highway] and I still think it has got room to move,” Mr Purnell said.

There were multiple offers on the home before it was finally bought by a young couple.

The million-dollar sale eclipsed the previous high of $900,000 for a home on the Pacific Highway last year.

The “lifestyle” suburb itself experienced huge growth in 2017. According to n Property Monitors, Highfields experienced 35.2 per cent growth last year.

Its median sale price rose from $540,000 for 12 sales in 2016 to $730,000 for 15 sales in 2017.

It follows on from a street high sale of $1.15 million for a four-bedroom home in Faul Street on the eastern side of Adamstown Heights and a street high sale of $1.12 million for a renovated residence in Fernleigh Loop.

A new street ceiling has also been set in Hamilton.

Darren Penn of Ray White Newcastle Lake Macquarie, sold 3 Buchanan Street for $1.55 million.

The unique six-bedroom home, which has a Victorian style terrace facade combined with contemporary open plan livinginside, was marketed through an expressions of interest campaign.

It is positioned on a block around 485 square metres in size with three street frontages and is within walking distance of popular Beaumont Street.

Mr Penn said there were12 offers on the home, which held the previous highest sale of the street after being sold in 2015 for $975,000.

A five-bedroom home on three quarters of an acre with bushland surroundings also proved a record forCardiff’s Afton Street.

First National Altitude’sPaul McAllister sold the residence, which also hasa self-contained studio,for $810,000.

It was the first sale in the tightly held street since 2015. It is only the fourth sale for the street since 2000, according to n Property Monitors data.

In Wickham, a two-bedroom home with a self-contained retreat at the rear in Fleming Street sold for a street high $850,000 as inner city suburbs continue to show strong growth.
